The Lawn Green Bowling community has tried numerous approaches over the years to successfully and effectively reseed or re-establish their bowling greens. Greens are usually resown every 10 – 12 years.
No single approach or product had been found to be effective and local methods or expertise is relied upon, as well as a historic reliance on favorable seasonal weather patterns.
The consensus within the greenkeepers community is luck can play as much of a role as good management. Some more recent solutions proposed have proven expensive and resulted in other secondary problems (from hydroseed/hydromulch).
