The site was a large flat area surrounded by a steep batter to the East and a smaller batter to the West. Due to the earthworks that had taken place the soil was loose and consisted of left over soil and some top soil mixed which was moving easily with rain and drying and becoming a dust issue. The flat areas where sprayed first then the batters a couple of weeks later once earth work had finished on them.
The VE Gro-Matt was sprayed to all areas with a couch and Millet seed via our Finn hydromulch truck. The application was a 4 tone per hectare mix with a tackifier for immediate soil stabilisation. The soil had little prep work done only being flattened using a grader. After the application there was a weekend of rain which was all the water the seed needed to sprout consistently across the site.
The VE Gro-Matt gave a permanent cost effective solution at a much lower cost to laying grass. The tackifier allowed the hydromulch to bind to the soil and give short term stabilization until the grass sprouted. The work was quicker than other methods being carried out over 2 days. One day for the flat areas and one for the batters.
